The Red Ribbon Club works to create awareness about HIV/AIDS, blood donation, and healthy lifestyle practices. It conducts seminars, rallies, peer education sessions and health campaigns in collaboration with government and health organizations.

Objectives: 

  • Educate youth with correct, concise and adequate information and heighten their level of awareness about HIV/AIDS/STI/sexuality and other related issues (thus eliminate myths and misconceptions).
  • Enable youth, especially the female students, to identify and understand situations of exploitation and abuse.
  • Sensitize the youth regarding care and support needs of PLWHA and instill in them the spirit of helping and supporting the people living with HIV & AIDS (PLWHA) and reduce the stigma and discrimination against them.
  • Increase youths’ access to health care services related to STI / HIV/AIDS/drug use.
  • Create linkages between youth and governmental, non – governmental agencies to access safer and responsible healthy behaviour.
  • Organize and facilitate voluntary blood donation camps and mobilize the youth for voluntary blood donation.
  • Create among the youth a cadre of peer educators for seeking and encouraging positive health behavior as well as ensuring sustainability of the club.

Key Activities of the Red Ribbon Club (RRC)

  • HIV/AIDS Awareness Programmes:
    Organizing seminars, workshops, and awareness sessions on HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment and stigma reduction.
  • Blood Donation Drives:
    Conducting voluntary blood donation camps in collaboration with hospitals and health organizations.
  • Peer Education Sessions:
    Training student volunteers to educate peers on safe practices, healthy lifestyle and disease prevention.
  • Health Campaigns and Rallies:
    Organizing rallies, street plays and campaigns to promote awareness on HIV/AIDS and public health issues.
  • Collaboration with Health Organizations:
    Coordinating with government agencies, NGOs and healthcare providers for health awareness initiatives.
  • Observation of Important Health Days:
    Celebrating World AIDS Day, National Blood Donation Day and other related observances with informative activities.
  • Workshops on Healthy Lifestyle Practices:
    Conducting sessions on nutrition, personal hygiene, mental well-being and preventive healthcare.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    Maintaining records of activities, participation and outcomes to monitor impact and improve outreach.
